Our goal is to make sure that your legal rights and interests are protected. We help fathers legitimate their children, mothers establish paternity, grandparents reestablish visitation with their grandchildren, clients enforce alimony and child support payments, alienated parents regain accesss to their children, and guide engaged clients in preparing prenuptial agreements.
OUR PRACTICE
Rachel has been practicing family law for 26 years. A founding partner of Elovitz O'Nan, LLC and thereafter Elovitz, Edwards, O'Nan & Buerlein, LLC, Rachel returned to solo practice in late 2021. Her practice includes all areas of family law, from prenuptional agreements to marital dissolution, third party custody actions, equitable caregiver actions, grandparent visitation actions, legitimation, paternity, modifications of custody, modifications of alimony, contempt, and temporary protective orders. Rachel's practice has taken her to counties across Georgia, including, as examples, Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb, Cherokee, Clayton, Hall, and Douglas Counties.
MEDIATION
Helping Families Resolve Their Issues Amicably and Expeditiously
Rachel has been mediating since 2010. She is trained in basic civil, domestic relations (divorce), domestic violence, and dependency mediation. As a mediator, Rachel's goal is to assist parties in resolving their conflict / legal issues in a non-adversarial setting by listening to their respective positions, getting to their underlying interests and concerns, offering creative solutions, and through reality testing.
GUARDIAN AD LITEM
Representing the Best Interest of Children
Rachel has served as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) since 2001. GALs do not have a confidential relationship with the minor children they are appointed to represent. They serve as an arm of the Court, conducting investigations, gathering information, and making recommendations as to what kind of custodial arrangment and parenting paramenters are in a minor child's best interest.
CHILD ADVOCACY
Representing Dependent Children
Rachel has served as a child advocate for about 15 years. Child Advocates have a confidential relationship with the minor children they represent. They are often appointed in Juvenile Court to represent minor children in dependency cases (cases involving abuse and neglect).
HOURS OF OPERATION
Because we are cognizant of the risks to those with weakened immune systems, those who suffer from comorbidities, and those who are in higher age demographics, we are flexible regarding where, how, and when we meet clients. We can meet in person, over zoom, via FaceTime or via telephone, and we endeavor to accomodate our clients with regard to meeting times.
